The grand cathedrals of medieval Europe stand as solid evidence of a complex spirituality. To walk amongst these forests of stone is to witness a manifested vision in which the universe abundantly reveals the presence of Spirit. A perspective which has been greatly diminished over the succeeding centuries. |
With the intent of developing a greater appreciation of the creative perspective of the medieval cathedral builders, Earthlore has inaugurated Rosarium Sophia. Also referred to as the Virtual Cathedral Project, this space is dedicated to exploring the range of processes involved in cathedral construction of the Gothic age. |

The Gothic era produced a collaboration of varied arts unequaled in architectural history. These spiritual monuments evidence important innovations in architectural technology, yet also contain a broad range of decorative craft works. Within these structures reside a range of fine arts interpreted through sculpture, glass work, painting, tiling, & iron works. |
Also associated with the cathedrals, are the works of manuscript illuminators, and music composers. Each of these arts shall be represented within this labor. Through the work of contemporary artisans, architects and scholars, the Virtual Cathedral Project shall provide a space for inhabiting the creative aspects of Gothic cathedral construction. |

Despite the allusion of the project's name, we are not attempting to re-create a three dimensional cathedral. The Rosarium Sophia is a space for applying the latest possibilities in education towards a greater understanding of Gothic cathedrals. Here we shall develop a reservoir of the craft, lore and spiritual intent of the cathedral builders. |
